We are a Danish startup that specializes in designing and producing high-quality assistive devices that will help improve the lives of people with reduced hand dexterity.
Meet the team
Manigrip is run with passion by a team that works every day to create an improved quality of life.
Meet the expert panel
We have allied ourselves with a permanent panel of experts to ensure the quality of everything from product to packaging.

Kirsten Charlotte Pedersen
Kirsten is a trained occupational therapist and is currently a private practicing occupational therapist. Through several years of employment in the public and then private sectors, she has specialized in hand therapy and has also published professional books on the subject. Together with her husband, they have developed and manufactured various products for both rehabilitation and assistive devices in their company, KC Pedersen.

Karina Olsen
Karina is a private practice occupational therapist and works through activity science to help people find meaningful solutions to everyday problems, so that they can be as self-reliant as possible in their lives. And this is precisely based on the motivation and resources that the individual has, because only they know what is important and creates quality of life.

Charlotte Secher Jensen
Charlotte has rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis. In 2015 she won EULAR's Edgar Stene essay competition and writes engaging texts about life with arthritis. She is an administrator for various arthritis networks. In her everyday life she works part-time as an accounting assistant in a small company.

Lisbeth Snede
Lisbeth Snede is the president of the international non-profit organization PiCC United, which works to strengthen patients’ voices and involvement in healthcare worldwide. She has many years of experience in patient advocacy, project management, and cross-border partnerships. Lisbeth is also active as a speaker, moderator, and advisor in the fields of patient engagement, shared decision-making, and health communication.
Patient involvement
At Manigrip, we believe that the best aids are created with those who will use them. In this video, you will meet some of the members of our expert panel and gain insight into how we work with patient involvement – not as an add-on, but as the foundation of our development.
We collaborate with users and professionals all the way because we know that without their voice, we risk just creating another product for the shelf.

Sustainability and social responsibility
At Manigrip, we want to take social responsibility, which is why we work with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals and strive to incorporate various forms of sustainability into our company.
Global Goal No. 3.4
Our product is designed and produced with the aim of creating better well-being and better mental health for patients with impaired functions in the hands. We have specialized in arthritis patients and their challenges with the help of our expert panel. The product is also aimed at other patients with impaired function in the hands. Including e.g. Parkinson's, Multiple Sclerosis, Spinal cord injuries.
We have been fortunate enough to get a comprehensive assessment from our expert panel and other patients who use Wini on a daily basis. We see and hear that the grip improves their quality of life because they feel more independent of other people's help and thus the grip gives them more freedom. The satisfaction among our customers is high, which you can read more about under 'Testimonials' from experts and patients.
Manigrip was created to create better aids that provide greater flexibility and better conditions for self-help, something that is undeniably linked to quality of life and mental health.
World Goal No. 8.2
The product Wini is an innovative patented electronic grip that offers a multifunctional solution for patients with reduced hand function. It allows patients to use the grip on many objects of different sizes. From kitchen utensils, toothbrushes, cotton swabs to paintbrushes, crochet hooks and writing utensils.
The product has been developed with the aim of creating a long-lasting and sustainable solution for patients both in their private lives and at work.
Using ergonomic aids as early as possible in the course of an illness can be gentle on the body, and thus make it possible to stay in the labor market longer. That is why we work with institutions and municipal occupational therapists to spread awareness of Manigrip.
We focus on helping patients continue their lives as unchanged as possible after diagnosis – including at work.
World goal no. 8.5
The workplace should be a safe and pleasant place to be. In addition to wanting to help promote the general well-being of society, we also prioritize well-being in the workplace. We also have the same ambitions for our partners and suppliers. The employees' working conditions must be in order, and that is why we have also chosen suppliers in Denmark, so that we have a full overview of the value chain. We have visited our suppliers several times and are in regular contact with them. We have experienced a transparency and honesty towards us, which has formed a strong impression of the working conditions and how they thrive in the workplace.
We strive to be inclusive and motivating towards each other, our employees, partners and suppliers regardless of gender, ethnicity and religion.
World Goal No. 12.6
Manigrip is a smaller company, and therefore we do not currently conduct multiple forms of reporting, but nevertheless we prioritize working with sustainability and continuously incorporate it into our company.
Wini is made of TPE plastic, which is environmentally friendly, non-toxic and at the same time comfortable. It is a high-quality material that is strong and viable.
If faults or defects should occur, Wini is designed to be repairable and parts can be replaced in the product to extend its lifespan. The plastic can be remelted and recycled.
We are aware that as long as we produce and sell products, we are never 100% sustainable, but we try as much as possible to create solid and viable products that patients can have for many years.
Our suppliers are Danish companies, and we have chosen this for several reasons. First and foremost, we would like to try to reduce our environmental footprint and have a smaller CO2 account. With suppliers in Denmark, we do not have to travel very far to visit them. This also means that we travel less and have a shorter distance to the suppliers. Our packaging is also supplied by a Danish supplier, and it is made of FSC-labeled cardboard. The entire packaging can be sorted as cardboard waste and thus recycled.
A good idea
The journey started back in 2016 when we were faced with an exam project at Aarhus University together with fellow students Sune Monrad Lindhardt and Kenneth Stie Pedersen. We agreed that we wanted to create a project that would not only help, but also ensure the quality of life of patients with chronic diseases.
With the help of SANO Aarhus, an occupational therapist and lots of patients, we got the idea for Wini.
From students to entrepreneurs
In 2017, Manigrip was founded and we immediately represented Aarhus University at the University Startup World Cup, where we received the special award Besthealth Tech Product. In the same year, Manigrip was nominated for the CareWare Nexts Idea Prize.
In 2018, Henrikke and Thomas chose to do an internship in their own company and were given premises in Studentervæksthus Aarhus. Here, the first prototypes were developed, now in conversation with Manigrip's permanent expert panel consisting of Charlotte Secher Jensen and Lisbeth Oxholm Snede.
Recognition and funding
In 2019, we won the AAL Forum's Citizen Accelerator Award ahead of Danish, Spanish, English and Latvian competitors.
That same year, we receive our first Innobooster from the Innovation Fund to further develop our prototype with the Danish Technological Institute.
The development continues
In 2020, we will receive another Innobooster from the Innovation Fund to bring our prototype to production maturity.
In 2021, we will have a larger group of investors in Manigrip, all of whom are passionate about helping others.
Until launch in 2023, we are working with the best subcontractors to get Wini ready for production.
Launch
In 2023, Wini will be launched and in collaboration with CarePartner, Wini will win 2nd place as the year's novelty at the Health and Rehab fair.
